Oh, a photo of Moe, our old dog came up in FB Memories.

MOE.
Moe died a year ago from bone cancer. He was a 14yo wolfhound.
He loved coming in and joining us in bed and sleeping on my lap (he didn’t fit, but that didn’t matter!)
I remember feeling so GUILTY about going to work. Leaving him at the front gate with a sad look in his eyes. He would spend all day, nearly every day, by himself. Hottie boyfriend would always say ‘’Gee, I wish I could SPEND more TIME with the DOG.’’
And now we both spend all day, every day, with the dog. And we have no guilt and no regrets.

I use to leave at 8am and lock him in the yard.
My boyfriend was long gone at 6am and be home at 4pm and be so tired from cutting grass all day, every day.
He then had to cook dinner, ready by 5.30pm when I walked in the door.
We were so tired being up since 4.50am that we would be falling into bed at 8.30am. The dog was barely an afterthought.
When we came home, he would go barrelling (running) around the yard at 100 miles an hour, like a puppy, circling the house 3 times. I’m guessing he was happy to see us.
Weekends were family, cleaning, groceries, cooking and preparing to do that week all over again.
The dog would just watch u came and go, like ships in the sea. He would get a pat on the way in or way out. He would spend 8 hours + per day by himself, all day, every day. And he was outside at night times.
The GUILT.
I am so GRATEFUL that I was able to quit my day J.O.B.
That I was able to RETIRE Hottie Boyfriend from his job.
So we could spend more time with him.
He slept inside on his bed (it has been a cold winter).
In the mornings he walks into our bedroom and asks permission to jump onto the bed with us. (Well, more stretches then jumps, he doesn’t have any jump left in him).
He flops onto my lap.
During the night he can SNORE so LOUD I can hear him from one end of the house to the other (though it is a small house).
If he needs to go outside during the night, he will come into our room and whimper in the boyfriend’s ear.
I remember the GUILT. I remember feeling BAD. I remember WISHING for something different. And not wishing to live life with REGRET. And that was for the simple act of loving a dog.
And I am SO THANKFUL that my business does THAT. That I have no regrets of looking after a lovely dog and missing out on spending time with him.
Our new dog, Joshi – well, he has never had us leave for work. We are with him 95% of the time (except grocery shopping).
