I feel like I have been really dragging my feet about writing goals. Like a child throwing a tantrum, when something didn’t go my way (being what I wanted), I stamped my feet and said ”I’ll not be your friend never, never, never, again!” Wow, Rebekah. Childish.
So, I thought by ignoring the ‘bad’ behavior of my goals not working out (being what I wanted them to be), that I would teach it a lesson. Goodness, human psychology is interesting. Mine is, anyway!
Moral of the story: I haven’t been writing goals, having been setting goals, having been creating goals and certainly not hitting goals. I haven’t been evaluating and reevaluating and my income has dropped (see the correlation there?) I only just noticed in the last week or so. (In fact, I’m going to share my story about money and manifesting on Thursday in a free workshop. I’d love for you to join 🙂 )
What else is new for me lately?
Custody stuff. It has been a bit intense/stressful of late. Lots of back-forwards emails, texts plus affidavits, and other yucky stuff. We are self-representing and don’t really have anyone to help. I did reach out to the previous solicitor for a little advice and that helped with boosting confidence we are doing the right thing. The horrible bit is having this stuff going around and around in my head. I mostly try and schedule a time that I ‘deal’ with it and the rest of the time I remind myself that is not the allotted time to think about this. (Like when going to sleep!)
Reading book. I had stopped reading books for again (I don’t know why) and my mastermind group has been recommending books, so I went to the library and ordered them. They (books) are honestly what fills me up and feel awesome and I sometimes forget that and it’s nice to get the reminder from outside, from a mastermind group, from a mentor (maybe from me right now?) that it’s important to read books.
Journalling. That (THAT) was missing from the last 3 months. I was writing, but I wasn’t journalling. For me, journaling is an unedited brain dump which turns into manifesting and turns into goal setting. I’ll be sharing my exercise with people during the free money workshop. But basically, if I was looking for evidence or a reason why stuff wasn’t working, the lack of the journalling exercise is the reason I haven’t been hitting my goals. Why didn’t I journal? I got lazy. It was winder and cold. I slept in. And honestly, I think there was a little bit of fear of failure sneaking in.
Friends. I have friends. That is a big statement for me. I haven’t had friends, really, for a long time. If ever. I find it hard to make friends, being a classic weird introvert. I’d rather curl up with a good book. I talk more about this below, but I realise I have friends which was something very much missing. People who get me and get it. Who I love + adore. People who like me for me. People who value my advice + hard earned experiences. Who inspire + motivate me. Who push me, who question me, who challenge me, who hold me accountable and vice versa. And gives me energy.
Partnerships. That card has come up for me for months and months. It was blurry and I couldn’t see what that meant or how it would come to pass. I kept writing it out. Yet, here I am. Basically 2 partners, on 2 projects, with 2 GREAT friends. I had written out how it would look, it how would show up, how it would feel. I created those friendships (+ them, with me), I followed my gut. I got an idea. I asked. And I received. 2 partnerships for 2 projects for 2 businesses.
Projects. I have 2 brand new projects – R+C Mentored Mastermind Group with a business + mastermind friend and a live cake course (Price. Market. Sell.) Both of which are EXCITING + fun. Both are releasing completely new energy. It is like I am a new. It reminds me of the saying ‘how can you fix the problem with the same mind that created it? These are completely different ideas and projects with the aim and intention of completely different results.
Health. Is Amazing. I am so healthy and happy (yes, with custody stuff). #intermittantfasting About 2 months ago I realised that food mostly makes me neaucious and that feeling is similar to anxiety + usually chronic fatigue would rear its ugly head. After a particularly bad meal on my behalf (greasy ox-tail casserole) I couldn’t stomach food the next day. Or the next. I just felt like a light meal in the evening. And I just wastn’ hungry. But felt REALLY good. Alive. Energy. Productive. Light. So, I kept listening to my body. I have lost 5kg. I am the healthies and happiest I have been in a long time.
Garden. My man has a bee in his bonnet to have privacy in our house and yard. (I can see 21 rooftops from 1 window). He is thinking 3-4m high bamboo (clumping) as a hedge at the fence line and a tropical garden. Oh, and he wants to have pet quail. I’ll share progress shots with you.
Hmmmm, I am finding I am copying and pasting a lot and then just editing this document. Which is annoying me, but I wonder if that is the best way to do this. But, I just also noticed it has been since May I haven’t published my goals properly and since May I haven’t achieved my income goals. Is that a coincidence? I think not!
MY OVERALL GOALS FOR 2017 (TO REMIND ME, MORE THAN ANYTHING):
- Working from my highest self. Create high-quality content.
- Exercise x4 weekly. Get up at
56 am, Monday to Thursday for a 20-minute walk & run up hills.
- Be inspired. By reading books and listening to podcasts.
- Be inspirational. By doing all the above.
BUSINESS GOALS FOR THE YEAR:
I want to create high-quality content, with all new content I am creating.
In August I published, write, share, created and taught:
- 3 blog posts on this website
- 2 on my other blog Angel Foods
- 3 podcasts
- personal social media posts aiming to inspire and motivate
- 10 email newsletters for 2 blogs
- 10 Facebook lives
- Created 1 x ConvertKit course
I want to increase Angel Foods email subscribers by extra 15,000, increasing from 15,000 to 30,000 by 31 December.
I have hit over 19,000 as of beginning September. To be fair I have gone over 20k several times, but I also have deleted about 1000 cold subscribers monthly, so it is a ‘clean’ list or a more active list. I get about 3000 new opt-ins per month, organically (no paid advertising) subscribers having my opt-ins very strategic and thoughtfully placed.
I want to keep business expenses at
$700 $1200 per month at beginning of year and $800 $1500 per month, in the last 6 months of the year.
My business expenses were about $1360 for August, which I am pretty happy about. You can read the income report here.
I want to increase Angel Foods monthly website hit from
150,000 75,000 to 300,000 200,000 consistently by 31 December.
In August I hit over 68,000 page views. The main reason for fewer page views, I think, is I am testing sending fewer email newsletters. I use to be quite prolific (sending nearly daily-ish). It has been really (really) annoying and frustrating me that Angel Foods page views aren’t really growing past 80k per month. I got (another) 503 error myself on my website this morning, so I went and chatted to Siteground about it. I had been meaning to for ages. Essentially, it was maxing out and I hadn’t enabled the ‘autoscale’ function so that it increases as per needed. It has something to do with CPU and memory and when there a is a sudden spike in the traffic, it causes too many executions. The CPU itself can’t coordinate that many executions at once, and you get the error until it lowers the executions it currently is taking care of. I don’t get it (like, I don’t understand the tech talk) other than it costs more money to achieve the outcome of more website traffic (which is fine). But why WHY did I take so long to ask this question. Honestly, I would facepalm. But I won’t. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few days/week/month!
I want my company to make $80k gross sales in 2017 with $xx expenses & wages and $xx net sales for 2017.
August I made $6334.05. You can read my income report here. I made 33% from membership sites, 30% own products, 24% affiliate earning and 13% ad revenue.
Now, this is hilarious. I just got my tax return done (July16-June17 in Australia) and I made $60k for the financial year. I wondered how I was on track for this calendar year and on track for this goal. I added up and I am at $50k. With $30k left to hit my goal, I divided by 4 months remaining on the year and they average $7500. Basically what I am already receiving. It was like the universe was giving me exactly what I asked for! I haven’t reevaluated this goal, nor had I asked for a stretch goal or super stretch goal which I am a big BIG fan of. #facepalm So, an updated and TRUE goal is My company made $100k ($120k stretch goal and $150k super stretch goal) gross sales in 2017.
I want to increase CBS enrolled members from 240 to 400 paying members by the 31 December.
I have 265 paying monthly students total and 425 students who are monthly, 6-monthly, yearly, 2 yearly or lifetime members. I now have 2 goals of 400 paying MONTHLY members by 31 December and over 600 members total.
I want to have new website & membership site by end of January niching bloggers and online businesses (this website). DONE
I want to have 200 enrolled membership site paying students in Blog Business School by 31 December.
Oh, I have a new promotion I will be doing in December to reach this goal. It will be a 1-year deal for just $97 and there will be a huge prize pack, valued at over $5000! I’ll tell you more in the coming months.
I want to have 5,000 email subscribers for this website by 31 December.
By end of August, I have 420 subscribers. I’m not going to reevaluate this goal, because there is plans for massive email sub list growth over the next 4 months in conjunction with the above goal.
I want to have monthly website hits 15,000 for this website by 31 December.
For August I had 3600 page views. That is with very little (virtually zero) Google and SEO traction. I have to go reevaluate my SEO standing on this website, actually. #onthetodolist
I will retire hottie boyfriend from his job and hire him to help with my company by April 2017. DONE I will buy a country property and move out of Brisbane being fully supported by my business by July 2017.
This seems far out of reach for my dear boyfriend with custody stuff. We have a trial date of February next year, but we may not move for 5 years.
I want to feel supported by having regular mastermind sessions and also monthly sessions with a business mentor.
And this totally happened! In June/July I joined a paid mastermind and how hilarious that I wrote this goal at the beginning of the year. It is like magic, creating my own reality. When I wrote in April about being a part of mastermind groups and creating mastermind groups. I noticed how much a mastermind has helped me and provides the support, community, and accountability I needed. Plus it gave me energy! I could help people and they reciprocated! I fell in love (#girlcrush) with another mastermind chick and I ADORE her style. And we are now creating our own mastermind! So, we are looking for 12 amazing women that: are generous and kind, helpful, who are positive and take responsibility, who are open and honest, who value hard earned experience, who dream big but not exactly sure of the details. Have belief in themselves and their work and their business. People who want something different to the status quo. If you are interested, you can read more here. It starts in just a couple of weeks. Oh, and that is the only way I am working 1:1 with people for a while.
I will reward myself for hitting my income goals and any goal by going to the movies, at least monthly.
Hmmmm, that hasn’t happened. To be fair I haven’t hit my goals either. I’m not a fan of negative consequences or ‘punishment’ for not achieving goals. What do others do in this situation?
SUMMARY OF August GOALS:
- Well, I didn’t write any goals or share any and to be fair, I don’t think I personally committed to any and therefore, they didn’t happen! I think that is a pretty fair assessment. So, let’s start again with a clean slate.
- Income goal of $10,500 gross. With a stretch goal of $13,000 and super stretch goal $14,000.
- 12 x amazing women join R+C Mentored Mastermind Group by 30 September 2017. 12 amazing women join, that: are generous and kind, helpful, who are positive and take responsibility, who are open and honest, who value hard earned experience, who dream big but not exactly sure of the details. Have belief in themselves and their work and their business. People who want something different to the status quo. If you are interested, you can read more here. It starts in just a couple of weeks. Oh, and that is the only way I am working 1:1 with people for a while.
- 50 x cake decorators in Price. Market. Sell. course by 4 October 2017. (Stretch goal of 100 and super stretch goal of 150). The cakers make around $1k p/m (anwhere between $100 and $2k p/m) + want to increase to $5k p/m, consistently in 2018. They want to be motivated, inspired, with resources and advice and KNOW this course can help them. They already have a legal business (can already or are ready selling cakes) and not getting consistent orgders and want cakes to be a FT gig in 2018. If you are interested you can read more here.
- 90 x new Cake Business School enrolled students by 30 September.
- 4 x Angel Foods Show podcast interviews and over 2000 downloads for September. When I started concentrating on the podcast (just this year) it started to grow. Strange, hey?!? 😛
- Holiday. Going on a strip to Stradbroke Is (which is in our back yard) and taking our own boat, for a day trip. Oh, also going to a dam during this month, for a camping trip.
- Exercise daily (4 x week). I feel like I don’t need to write this down. Because it has been happening for 2 months. I wrote at the top about my health and I have lost 5kg and am healthy and happy.
- Health #1 priority. Reminding myself. Read books, cook yummy food, go to the movies, work less than 30 hours per week.
I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU.
