I made $2430 in sales on a $10 PDF product with ZERO launches, no prep, NO sales page (it isn’t on my website at all) and didn’t email it out, in the last 2 weeks!
On Monday, (15 May) I posted in my cake Facebook group with a $10 PDF idea and asked for ‘hands up’. Overnight I had 300 comments.
Zero launches, zero prep, no website or sales page, no email sent out. I then asked for an email address to flick through an invoice. (And created the PDF which took 6 hours). Then emailed through the product.
Currently, I have $2430 in the bank. Another 80 or so invoices outstanding. I expect at least 80% to pay. That is about $2800 IN THE BANK, (I suspect within next 7 days).
Kinda awesome for a random idea!

Note about Facebook groups.
I sold this product inside my Facebook group. (Meaning I am the creator/admin), called ‘Cake Business School’ for my target market who are cake decorators.
I started the group 2.5 years ago and now has 11,500+ members.
This group is one of my marketing strategies, as another place to ‘meet’ + connect + build a relationship with people.
It has taken a concerted effort – time, energy + intention. Daily. For years.
I share content in their daily, I help daily. My mission is to help at least 1 person per day. I can do that inside this group.
In the beginning… it took ages to get interaction + engagement in the group. I would go in daily + start conversations. And reply to EVERY SINGLE comment. As new members joined I would welcome + tag them to:
1.) make them feel welcome.
2.) encourage engagement.
It took about a year for the group to start running in itself and there were about 6 conversations started by others.
Cause I know that is why you are here. Below is the first post asking for ‘hand in the air’ asking for interest (379 comments).
I replied to every single person who put their ‘hands in the air’ saying the book is now ready and can I please get email address and I’ll flick through the email.
At the same time, I published a new post in the group (within 24 hours of the original post), saying the book is now ready and to please comment below with email address (with 328 comments).
Finally, over a week a later I did a final 3rd post updating everyone that I was up to date on invoicing and emailing through (38 comments).
Time the group takes.
I have always scheduled an amount of time per day to go into the group. To see what is going on, comment, respond, interact, member requestions.
Nowadays I schedule 20-30 minutes per day (except weekends) and I get through about half of the activity that goes on in there every day! There are 50+ new posts per day.
I also get about 50-300 member requests per day. I still welcome and tag every person I let in.
The timing of the $10 product.
Was it a fluke? Or luck? A little bit.
I did plan the time of the day + at the EXACT timing of another event. I had 2 pm Monday in my head to post it (intuitively). And when I hit publish I remember I hadn’t done a ‘Liking Train’ and should do that, because I know it gets an insane amount of engagement (can get up to 1000 comments).
These 2 posts go hand-in-hand because the Liking Train gets engagement and just a tiny scroll down and the recipe book post was there. All the ‘regulars’ put their hands up and then similar to an airport, where we follow people in front of us, the followers started following (also the FOMO – fear of missing out!)
Then it went viral because of the income amount of interaction and engagement and showed up on everyone’s needs feed. It had a snowball effect.
But, is that a fluke. I think it is more to do with the fact I had spent years in this group. I know the people and types of posts based on experience. I knew Liking Trains are popular because I had seen it, over and over again.
I have had posts not be popular, of course. Lots, heaps, loads. And again, that is based on experience. And having the mindset of – try, test, tweak, repeat.
Why do I tell you? To remind you to go forth, and ask for the sale! (And conquer your digital world).
